A
Bellows is a safety material which is almost used in every industry. The main
purpose of bellows is to protect machines from
debris, chips and swarf
and makes running a machine smoothly. Now-a-days all industries provide safety
measures to employees to avoid accidents while working. For this purpose
bellows helps a lot. Main advantages of using bellows are quick to
set up, easy to use, simple and transparent
charges, wide investment choice, strong service and support. It can be remove
anytime during maintenance and cleaning purposes. It does not
affect the originality of any machines.
Bellows
which are available in various shapes and sizes are long lasting and are
available to suit every application. It reduces the accident risk and thus increases
the precision of your machines and their life. Let us discuss about the various
application of bellows which are widely used.
Bellows in Cameras
In
photography, a bellows is the folded expandable part of a camera allows the
lens to be moved with respect to the focal plane for focusing. Two kinds of
bellows are commonly used on cameras: bag
bellows are used with a lens of short focal length and accordion bellows with a much longer range of extension.
Flexible bellows
or Elevating Platform Bellows
Flexible
bellows are commonly used in protecting pneumatic and hydraulic parts. They are
also used in the protection of various mechanical shafts and rods. The flexiblebellows allow the parts to be able to fully operate while at the same time they
are also protected from the penetration of dirt and other damaging materials
that could cause the seals to become damaged in the long run. If the seals are
damaged, then they will no longer be able to function fully.
Applications:
Flexible Bellows are hugely used in industrial and mechanical applications such
as machinery way covers, lift covers, airbag to protect it. It is also used to absorb
the thermal moment and vibration in the piping system. And also it is used in
the air bag filter to reduce the vibration in the ducting joints.
Elastic bellows:
Elastic bellows
are commonly used to protect machines and devices from unwanted dusts and
chips. When necessary we can remove this bellows for maintaining and cleaning
purposes. Elevating platforms bellows can be produced with up to 30 square
meters. It may be deployed horizontally or vertically based on the
requirements. Bellows can be easily attached with the machine using Velcro
tapes or metal frames. Manufacturing bellows in the following colors such as
black, yellow, white, but standard color is black. Many manufacturers make
bellows with designs. These bellows are used widely in the areas of automotive,
medical industry, machine tools, etc.
Laminated Bellows for Musical
Instruments
Laminated Bellows are characterized by several
layers of foil bonded together. These bellows are used where flexible designs
and inherent rigidity are important. They are used to protect columns, spindles
and shafts. This bellows are not suited to applications with high temperatures
and humidity. Laminated Bellows are now-a-days deployed in spindle-type lifting
gear for cameras, measuring and musical instruments as well as for medicine and
food technologies.
High Temperature Bellows for
Industrial Applications
High
Temperature Fabric/Glass /Ceramic Fabric Bellows are used where there is
continues high temperature application i.e. near furnaces. This materials with
Stand temp up to 1200 °C to 2000°C and totally fireproof standard materials are
polyester woven with polyurethane coating. A wide range of different fabrics
are available for special applications, for example - Preotex. Kevlar/Aramid
fabric for high temperature applications up to 600°C e.g. laser, plasma or
welding machines and Teflon coated for grinding applications.
Stainless steel bellows
Stainless
steel bellows maintain their high strength capability and custom design with
varying thicknesses. Some of their applications are Fossil fuel power generation,
gas turbines, petroleum refining, chemical processing, hot metal industries,
ship building, district heating, vibration & noise attenuation, computer industry,
steam distribution systems, HVAC equipment, pulp and paper processing, heat exchangers,
industrial piping systems, exhaust joints for all marine applications.
Metal Bellows for Medical
Industry
The Medical
industry relies on quality vendors who value the end product is being
advancements in the quality of life. Metal bellows can be used in medical
packaging equipment as a shaft cover in a vacuum chamber.
Bellows for Aerospace Industry
Bellows
are used primarily to absorb axial movements and also be used for angular and
lateral offsets. Single and double bellows joints, with or without external
restraints such as tie rods, cable ties and braid, have many applications in
aircraft ducting systems such as engine build up, air intakes and exhausts, and
also drain lines.
Applying Metal Bellows in
Ultrahigh Vacuums
Metal
bellows can handle harsh environments that other components can’t. That makes
them candidates for use in semiconductor manufacturing to help control
pressure, vacuum, or motion. A metal bellows typically have the physical form
of a flexible, spring like an accordion. But that changes once it fills with a
liquid or gas under atmospheric or vacuum conditions and its ends are sealed.
Then the bellows will be extremely sensitive to a variety of forces, providing
a predictable, repeatable, dynamic response.
Expansion joint
bellows
Fabric
expansion joints bellows are manufactured out of several different materials.
Some of them that are used in systems where gas seals need to be provided
include Fluoroa Elastomer and Fluro plastic. Fabric expansion joints are also
constructed out of rubberized materials, in some cases. Fabric expansion joints
are the workhorse of many industrial plants, connecting exhaust system
components to their adjacent ductwork. They are most commonly found connecting
transport piping and exhaust ducts.
